Role of the Totem Falls PTO

What the PTO Does

  • Support the educational programs and extracurricular activities of the school

  • Encourage parents’ involvement in their children’s education and school community

  • Provide feedback and suggestions for school programs

  • Coordinate programs and projects that enrich the curriculum

  • Encourage/fund increased exposure to technology for students

  • Assist with awareness and feedback on school safety and security issues

  • Organize fundraising for programs, equipment, and services not covered by the school budget

  • Support the school’s educational goals through parent and community volunteerism

  • Recruit and coordinate volunteers for PTO and school functions

  • Stay aware of legislation and political issues that may impact education

  • A LOT!

What the PTO Does NOT

  • Run the school

  • Force parents to participate

  • Set school program policy

  • Define the curriculum

  • Dictate school technology platforms or software

  • Interfere with security policies

  • Control the school budget

  • Set educational goals, testing requirements, or compliance standards

  • Have authority over school staff

  • Endorse political candidates or commercial interests

  • DO EVERYTHING!
